Did God really say...? - How we can overcome temptation

Hi Friends,

Today I used the S.O.A.P. method to explain this bible verse in my own words.

Scripture:

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

Observation:

I highlighted ''Did God really say...?'' As I believe this is the main reason it is easy for the devil to tempt us.We know what the Bible says, yet as the devil comes to tempt us it is easy to give ourselves away. This is because we are not standing secure in the word of God. The Bible says in Numbers 23:19 ''God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?'' God stands by His word, He does as He promises. If we believe what God has said in His word it will be able to speak out to the devil with what the Bible tells us.
We probably all know the story of Jesus when he fasted 40 days and nights and found himself in the dessert getting tempted by the devil. Jesus said to the devil without hesitating ''man shall not live by bread alone'' when the devil offered him the whole world. And after three attempts the devil flee. Why? Because Jesus knows where he stands. And so should we be; whenever the devil is trying to tempt us ''did God really say..?'' You should stand by your word and say ''Yes, He did! As the Bible says in ... This way we can not only overcome temptations, we will also be able to strengthen our faith.

Application

We should be able to read the Bible as much as possible and understand what the Bible is saying. We should try and remember key verses, so we can use it when we our faith is tested and when we are praying.
For example, you are praying for something you desperately want. You can petition God by saying ''Father, you said in your word that we should ask and it shall be given unto us. Father, I now ask you for (...)''

Prayer

You can personalize this prayer :)

In the name of Jesus.
Father help me to stand against the plans of the enemies. To stand secure in your word so I can stand against the tests the devil presents to me.
Father I pray that you will help me to pick up my Bible more frequently than my phone, and that you will help me to understand your word.
Help me to search more deeper in your word so I will not only be reading it, but that I will understand the spiritual side of the scripture.
Help me to memorize scriptures so I may use it when my faith is tested.
In Jesus name,
Amen
